Patented call progress analysis algorithms and frequency analysis enable the D/42-NE2 to make outbound calls, detect when calls are answered, and distinguish between different network signals. The D/42-NE2 is based on the Dialogic® PBX Integration Platform with an industry-standard PCM Expansion Bus™ (PEB) interface enabling access to all PEB supported complementary technologies (fax, voice recognition, and TTS). When used with NEC PBX and KTS switches, the D/42-NE2 provides a flexible platform for developing integrated call processing applications. Dialogic developers can integrate current applications on the D/42-NE2 with minimal software modifications and create more efficient applications through the use of the Unified API. With the correct switch software load, application programs using the D/42-NE2 can access called number identification for calls transferred from the switch, access trunk identification for calls originating outside the switch, and control message waiting indicators for message notification. The D/42-NE2 also features positive disconnect supervision (NEC Electra KTS only) to immediately detect when a caller has hung up.
